The Avalanche Lily is sometimes difficult to tell apart from the Oregon Fawn Lily. Avalanche Lilies grow at higher elevations than the Oregon Fawn Lily. They have simple shiny green leaves, as opposed to the Fawn Lily which has mottled leaves. Usually the Avalanche Lily has pure white flowers and grows in the shady damp forests west of the Cascades.
