Bunchberry is a member of the Dogwood family. It’s flowers are very similar to the Dogwood tree flower, just a little smaller. The Bunchberry grows in forested areas mostly in the west side of the Cascades, but also in farther eastern Oregon. It is a low plant, growing only a few inches tall. The leaves form a whorl around the flower, which has four white petal-like bracts with a cluster of small flowers inside. The berries, which are edible, turn a bright red in the fall.
