We have a few types of blackberries growing wild in the Columbia Gorge. All are very common and have different leaf and petal patterns to distinguish them from one another. There are multiple thorns on the stems, so beware! The Himalayan Blackberry flower has five petals that often overlap each other, and multiple stamens. The berries are very tasty but the thorns make them hard to harvest. Like other berries, I leave these for the wildlife to enjoy.
