I have found that Penstemons are a large and varied group of wildflowers. Though all are similar in some ways, each is obviously distinctive. The Small-flowered Penstemon has a cluster of flowers at the top of the stem and lanceolate leaves without any serration. They are almost alwasy blue to purple in color.
