It’s not unusual to find this widespread larkspur on your hikes around the great Northwest. The can be as close as the nearest hike, or way up close to timberline on Mt Hood and Mt Rainier. These upland larkspurs have multiple flowers on each stalk and will grow up to a foot tall. If you look closely at the flower, you will often find honey bees around them, so have a little care. I have photographed them in Portland’s Powell Butte Nature Park and well above the tree line on the Killen Creek Trail on Mt Adams, along the trail to Latourell Falls, Wahkeena Falls and Multnomah Falls; in Mt Hood’s and Mt Rainier’s Paradise Park.
