This unique plant grows in many types of areas, though not terribly wet places like stream banks and not in higher elevations. I often dig up plant lists for the trails or areas I hike and before I went to southern Oregon to hike both Lower and Upper Table Rock trails, the list I found did not include the naked broomrape, so I was quite pleasantly surprised to find this growing on the top of the Upper Table Rock trail. I have also found this, one of my favorite wildflowers, on trails at Catherine Creek, Memaloose Hills, and other trails in the Columbia Gorge.
